"The idea here was bring a page from the sketchbook onto the canvas. Most of my paintings start from sketches and I sort of combine various forms and ideas, into a new one. I think of ideas as components of a bigger machine. That being said, I don’t know what the machine does before I start building it, so I frequently find myself with extra bits that have nowhere to go, but are still really useful and often recurring." - Lee Stewart
