Collection: Yu-Sheng Chiu

THE ARTIST

Yu-Sheng Chiu (b.1999) is an Ottawa-based photographic artist born and raised in Chiayi City, Taiwan. Her work explores how solitude, oral history, and the ever-changing definition of femininity have constructed her experience as a Taiwanese woman by using photography to navigates the abstract relationship between body and belonging in the geopolitical and psychological contexts. Having earned a Diploma in Photographic Arts and Production from SPAO Centre, Chiu is expected to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of Ottawa in Spring 2026. Her works are held in private collections as well as physical and virtual exhibitions both nationwide and internationally at SPAO Centre (2021, 2022, 2023), Lomography (2024), Toronto Outdoor Art Fair (2025), Ottawa Art Gallery (2025), Chinatown Remixed Festival (2025), Wall Space Gallery (2025), Artist Project (upcoming, 2026) and Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival (upcoming, 2026) as the list continues to grow.
