The magic of being able to pause time and go back to a moment over and over again is one of the key things I love about photography. The world goes by in a great blur and reexamining it in a photo offers the chance to slow it all down. The way I choose my subjects relies on this philosophy; I simply shoot anything that I want to stop, collect and examine later. This may seem elementary but it is this simple aspect off photography that thrills me the most. My body of work consists largely of images of my hometown-Ottawa, there is no place on earth as familiar to me as here and all my other work is influenced by the spirit of the city of which I was born.

I use the best of traditional & digital methods for photography; each of the many steps is like a brushstroke in a painting, each step a chance to make the image my own. Every fiber print is absolutely unique and feels substantial to the touch, holding rich blacks and expressive highlights. With large format photography you can experience every minute detail, and therefore see things as they really are, or as they were. With digital photography the incredible amounts of control that an artist has over the image turns the medium into undiscovered country. My main influences are Robert Doisneau and Andreas Feininger.

Ansell Adams famously said that the negative was the score and the print the performance; I feel it necessary to craft all the prints myself because of the creative control that my own hands offer. My prints are the result of standing on the shoulders of giants. Countless people have helped me over time and were there for me every step of the way; I hope that I have done justice to their expertise.
