Collection: Shelbey Dodds

THE ARTIST

Shelbey Dodds is a contemporary jeweller based in Toronto. She received her BFA in Jewellery Design and Metalsmithing from NSCAD University in 2015. Her jewellery is influenced by infrastructure, colour and pattern, executed through the use of minimal forms. She was accepted as an Artist-In-Residence (Metal) at the Harbourfront Centre in 2017.

My work is developed through traditional fabrication methods employing sterling silver, yellow gold, and is accented with an alternative colouring technique - powder coating. Minimal forms communicate the explicit observation of infrastructure encountered in daily life - the offbeat stones of a walkway, paint peeling from the wall of a concrete underpass, smokestacks of an eastern shoreline. These thoughts are reflected into jewellery pieces such as earrings, pendants, brooches, and rings.
