Wall Space Gallery proudly presents WILD HEART Tapestries: Portraits from the Forest & Garden, a captivating new series of paintings by Crystal Beshara. This exhibition brings together animal portraits and floral compositions, creating a quiet harmony between living forms. Wolves, foxes, bears, and hares appear poised and attentive, set within lush floral environments, alongside still life compositions of blossoms enlivened by birds and butterflies.
Rooted in the artist’s early experiences growing up on a farm, these works draw from a deep well of memory in which animals were regarded as part of family life. This sense of familiarity carries through in the tenderness of each figure, where alertness and calm coexist.
Beshara constructs these scenes through layered foliage and intricate patterning that balances observation with a decorative sensibility. Leaves and petals shift between precision and looseness, while shallow spatial depth draws the viewer into an intimate visual field. The influence of Art Nouveau appears in the flattened backgrounds and curling botanical forms, reimagined through a contemporary lens.
Color plays a central role, moving between soft atmospheres and saturated grounds with luminous gold surfaces. Across the series, careful detail and painterly openness create compositions that feel both composed and alive.
