Laura Culic

Laura’s atmospheric landscape paintings are filled with a sense of light, space and air. The haunting and moody atmospheres contrast luminosity against mysterious depths. The paintings are constructed using multiple applications of oil paint and alkyd medium; thinned with solvent and applied in translucent layers. For Laura, the landscape supplies the context for a thoughtful and emotional exploration of the concepts of constancy and change. Her work is contemplative and meditative, and embodies a sense of timelessness and serenity.

Laura is an elected member of Canadian Society of Classical Realism and of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour. She is represented by galleries in Toronto, Ottawa, Oakville, Hamilton and St Jacobs, and her work is held in many private and corporate collections.  In 2009 Laura was awarded an Ontario Arts Council Grant, and one of her paintings was purchased by the Art Collection of the Government of Ontario.   

Laura studied fine art and illustration at the Ontario College of Art & Design. She has worked as a freelance illustrator, and a mural artist. Since 2006, she has painted in oils, full time from her Toronto home studio.
