Anne Barkley
View artist biography
Anne Barkley’s intention when she paints is to find a complexity in simple but strong abstract shapes and beautiful colours that will challenge and engage the viewer. She uses physical and emotional intensity to get to that place where thought stops and her intuition can have free rein; she invites her viewers’ participation and response, so that art as communication can take place.
Anne has studied at Queen's and Carleton Universities, and at St Lawrence College. She has attended many workshops in Canada and the United States. She is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists and belongs to several other art groups and organizations. Her award-winning work is held in public and private collections across Canada, in the United States, Europe and the Cayman Islands. Anne has recently exhibited in Toronto, New York City, and at the 2009 Biennale in Florence Italy.
