Biography

Susan Glazer is a jewellery artist who is weaving silver into beads, earrings, necklaces and bracelets.   Strands of silver are crocheted, knotted and woven into a structure which is delicate, yet strong and flexible.   She is pleased to link her background in textiles with her love of making jewellery.  Her pieces are fresh, exciting and unique.

Susan presents a series called “Dancing Divas” which features women in different poses, celebrating the rhythm, rhapsody and rapture of life.  Each diva is sketched onto a sheet of sterling silver and cut out with a small jewellery saw.  Fine details of hair, a hat, a purse and even miniature jewellery is soldered into place.  It is then filed, sanded and polished.   Gemstones are added to complement the pose with natural colour and movement.

Susan studies art and jewellery at the Ottawa School of Art, Haliburton School of Fine Arts and Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts in Montreal.  She grew up in Montreal and moved to the quiet wooded area of Chelsea, Quebec.  She feels fortunate to have found an art medium that indulges her curiosity about metal and challenges her to develop technical skills within a warm and flourishing artistic community.    She delights in the role that art is playing in her life.
